Needed: Ideas

I'm stuck in the mental mud these days. Though I'm itching to write, I can't think of anything interesting to write about. It's lame, I know. There are millions of topics out there, and goodness knows America is standing on the cusp of some profound -- and hopefully good -- changes. I should be brimming over with ideas for posts.

But no. Here I am, wordless. Bereft.

Perhaps you, my patient and beloved readers, will give me a little nudge with some ideas? I'll be quite appreciative. In the meantime, have a great holiday weekend. And, hey! How about that Obama?

1. Close your eyes, take a stroll through your neighborhood, then write about everything you've seen.

2. Describe the worst car trip you ever took.

3. Tell about your last visit to Sacramento, San Francisco or Tahoe.

4. If you could talk to Gov Arnie, what would you say?

5. Have you ever talked someone out of something or gained something by bluffing?

I used to worry when I felt stuck for something to write about, but I don't anymore. Now I just relax, it'll come.

Sometimes I feel like I'm saying the same things over and over, but then I'm basically a political writer and that's what we do.

There are days, though, that I'd like to write more personally, and I do, just elsewhere since I can't risk it at Stop the Press!

That's a reason I really enjoy blogs like yours and Bill's, where I can get a glimpse of who you really are, where you live, what you do.

So, lil Wren, just relax. It'll come to you.

I've found that digging into one's childhood is good fodder for narrative writing.

Think of the great places that you went, that no longer exist, and why they were so great.

Have any eccentric relatives? They're always good for a laugh.
