Heh. It's a shame that some big 3 cars are actually beginning to show signs of being more efficient and better built, but they still have that reputation...I don't know anyone who's ever owned a Toyota or a Honda that's had real mechanical problems with it for the first 5 or 6 years at least.
What really ticks me off is that they CAN make good cars. The early model Saturn met the Hondas and Toyotas on their own turf and did well. Apparently they sold better than the main-line junk that GM was selling and embarrassed the management.
So now the Saturn is a kit-car made of Opal parts.
