Bush is about to be sent home to think about what he has done, and McCain will soon be back golfing in Arizona. Our new President Obama won't be able to solve all the problems they have created, but he has the intelligence to tackle them, find some reasonable approaches and start us back on the right track.

In the mean time, I wish my own two cats would find some kind of detente around the house, so we could do a litlle snuggling.Larry Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425250800667058263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-47202926182753770042008-09-22T18:24:00.000-07:002008-09-22T18:24:00.000-07:00This is truly a mind-boggling time. The incompetent efforts toward empire over the last eight years, the rampant greed of the financial and commercial sectors, and the "have it all right now" attitude by much of the public has brought us to the edge of the abyss.

But - we have survived worse. My parents survived the Great Depression and WWII. There are still many cooler heads of my generation and yours BW who can engage with younger leaders to influence local actions that could build the US anew from the ground up. We just need to act, and act as wisely as we know.

I agree, a warm bowl of soup and a warm kitty is some of the best comfort to be had.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-69376093090437308702008-09-22T17:03:00.000-07:002008-09-22T17:03:00.000-07:00I doubt saner heads will prevail - those guys aren...I doubt saner heads will prevail - those guys aren't working in government anymore... most of the sharpies are in private practice and other assorted businesses.

Adding the gloom is, we seem to have a growing population which does not have the skills of deductive reasoning nor extrapolation. And they also seem memory deficient.

And now with the presidential race too close to predict, new wars (Syria? Iran? Pakistan? Russia?) seem about to happen.

Can it get any more gloomy? Is this the moment the zealot terrorists have been waiting for?

If this was 1880 I would get a horse and ride far far away. But now, there is no escape, we are stuck with an uncertain future which isn't looking too good.willhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15590217997145761582noreply@blogger.com
