Words fail me.

Larry: Thanks. And you know what, it's not all that hard, really.

BSUWG: And you'll STILL be 12 in your mind. You and Sketch can laugh at fart jokes.

Chris: You SCUBA dive each weekend?? You're wayyyyy past me in the exercise department. I just walk three or four times a week. I'm overawed. You're my hero!

Dorki: I just with the benefits of exercising were more ... obvious. I walk and I feel better, which is great, but man it's taking forever to rediscover my Paris Hilton figure. Still, onward and upward. Thanks for the words of hope and encouragement. You too, Chris!

Bill: If I can find wisdom over the course of years, I'll be happy. Your friend was right.

Blue Girl: It DOES sneak up! One day you wake up and your doctor is the same age as your daughter. It's disconcerting, to say the least.Wrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09285813981508179421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-84896751045787721302008-08-01T09:11:00.000-07:002008-08-01T09:11:00.000-07:00Loved this post, Wren. I'm like you in a lot of ways. I love to watch the yungins and their crazy "fashions." Knowing they're just trying to find out and figure out who they are so they can project that image to the world.

I, like you, have been around really young doctors lately. And it's shocking. SHOCKING! I noticed a few years ago that most of my son's teachers were younger than me. Most of the policemen I see driving around are younger than me, etc.

WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN? Obviously, when I wasn't looking. Just snuck right up.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-73452807098961761862008-07-31T17:39:00.000-07:002008-07-31T17:39:00.000-07:00I once quipped to a friend, "There's no upside to ...I once quipped to a friend, "There's no upside to aging." Styles, customs, and our bodies do change but staying interested in things like art, music, science - and especially having friends - makes the years less noticeable.

Also - thanks for inspiring me to actually start doing regular walks. They are not long, but they are every morning (so far).

May you have good results from your tests - in any instance we are pulling for you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-47829817419275751782008-07-31T08:08:00.000-07:002008-07-31T08:08:00.000-07:00I feel as you do, Wren. But, I don't think of myself as 65.

The exercising part of your entry resonates most with me. I think if I didn't work full time and scuba dive twice each day on weekends, I'd probably weight over 200 lbs - and have osteoporosis (sp?) as well. The weight bearing exercise is, for me, the most important preventative step.

I hope your biopsy results are negative and that you can then get on with the things that are important.EasyDiverChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13087821595346517698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-75486431292201920752008-07-31T06:59:00.000-07:002008-07-31T06:59:00.000-07:00"my mind is still 30"Mine's 12 (well..."my mind is still 30"

Mine's 12 (well, most of the time). But, I was a fairly bright 12-year old, so I guess all's well.

Actually, I'm 39 & cannot accept aging at this stage in my life. So, I'm exercising a lot and trying to avoid Mickey D's. I spent a rare night in front of the TV last night & there was this show about teenagers living on their own, pretending to be adults w/ kids. Last night, the pretend parents visited. They hired a bunch of "real seniors" for the roles, many in their late 80s. It struck me how much more vital the ones in good physical shape were. One guy was 77 and doing pull ups and weight lifting. That's the guy I want to be.Boldly Serving Up Wheat Grasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17804188398018016592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25499814.post-73112409092276540162008-07-30T22:48:00.000-07:002008-07-30T22:48:00.000-07:00I feel much as you do, Wren, and I appreciate your...I feel much as you do, Wren, and I appreciate your making the point so cogently. And this post kinda trips me out because I was just thinking of this same thing - being younger in my head than my body is - earlier today and yestrday.

Weird. When I'm 80, I probably won't think or feel much differently than I do now. That's a bit odd to think about - an ikned up, pierced, game-playing, slightly gothic 80-year-old who still giggles helplesly at fart jokes.Sketchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07412957363196241563noreply@blogger.com
